Bucking the Trend…

We do not have to let our finances be dictated by the world. Our finances are dictated by heaven’s economy, not this world’s system. Several years ago, Jamie’s father left her an inheritance, which we invested in the stock market. When the stock market went down at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 by 50 percent, we increased our investment by 61 percent. That’s a 61 percent increase during a 50 percent downturn! God blessed us! Our investor couldn’t even understand why we were prospering so much. Some of you are too carnal to believe that’s true. You think there’s a natural reason. No, it’s the blessing of God.

Our investor told us his other clients didn’t prosper as much as we did. It’s because we were believing God. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he—and we were bucking the trend. Some of you look to the economy and start believing you have to cut back; you don’t expect to prosper. This limits what God can do in your life. Some of you cut back on your giving at this time because you anticipated having a problem, but you should have cut back on your debt and your spending—not your giving! The worst thing you can do to limit your harvest is cut back on your sowing. If anything, you need to increase your giving! But most people don’t think this way, so they limit God.
