Prophets are Gifts to Us

Post by adminpc »

Kris Vallotton says:

"Christ gave the prophets to the church as a gift. The main function of a prophet is to equip the saints to do the work of service. The prophet equips the church with eyes to see and ears to hear. The grace that prophets carry literally cause people to be able to hear the voice of the Spirit. Prophets have the authority to correct and direct because they are a part of the government of God."

I say:

Absolutely, Jesus gave us, the body of Christ, prophets to equip us, help keep us on God's right tract. They are our gifts. They are our blessing. We need them. But why?

First and foremost because Jesus does not give us cheap gifts. He doesn't go out into the world and just grab the first idle person not doing anything and tell them, "here, go stand on the wall and tell me when threw enemy is coming." Most would not recognize the enemy. They play with him everyday. Jesus goes to great lengths to mold a properly equipped prophet that will be an asset to us. So, if Jesus gives us the gift of a prophet, it behooves us to cherish this gift. We are going to miss out on something important if we don't.

Second, prophets see things others don't see. We can all hear Jesus speak to us, but he isn't saying the same thing to each of us. Prophets are our eyes and Jesus' mouth pieces. We need them. Believe it and then find one and give them a hug. Ok, no hug just yet, but pray for them in the spirit and encourage them to press on in Jesus.
